From what we see, Nassau County Deputy Commissioner of Consumer Affairs Jim Reed celebrates Thanksgiving all your round.  So when he asks us to spread the word ...  here you go.

Greetings, Friends!  Well, with the world financial mess we're in, the layoffs, etc., the world of Charity finds itself in dire straits -- more needs to fill and fewer donations to help these organizations fill that need.  Please consider making donations of time, energy, talent, or even CASH!  I thank you for your consideration.   Jim.

The Salvation Army (TSA) needs Bell Ringers.  Over the years, The Salvation Army has had to HIRE bell ringers at minimum wage.  NOW, we are looking for more volunteers to help them meet the needs of the needy.  You might not know that TSA has one of the lowest administrative costs ratios in the charity world (11%).  If you, your family, your company, organization, school, etc., can spend a couple of hours ringing the bell at a Stop & Shop, Waldbaum's, or Shoprite, call SIDNEY GLEE, Nassau County Director, at 516-747-4902 to get started.  You could even ask for a Tabletop Cannister for Donations to put in your business.  AND, I have even better news --- A very generous DONOR has pledged up to $40,000 in matching funds for NEW DONORS who maka donation to The Salvation Army this year.  Help us maximize our efforts.  Thank You.

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation needs clothing for their Thrift Shops and to give to needy families.  If your company, school or organization can set up a clothing drive, bless you.  You can contact Damon Rader at 481-7600, Extension 301, and he will arrange for a pickup of your needed donations.

The INTERFAITH NUTRITION NETWORK (INN) feeds thousands of needy people daily across Long Island.  They are also housing the homeless, many of whom are children. Attached are three flyers describing the items they wish donated.  You may contact Cynthia Sucich at The INN to discuss your participation in their programs, 516-486-8506, Extension 115.  (www.the-inn.org) "Serving Hungry and Homeless Long Islanders With Dignity, Respect and Love."

THANKSGIVING TURKEYS -- The INN still needs ONE HUNDRED (100) Frozen Turkeys by Wednesday of this week.  Call Cynthia at 516-486-8506, Extension 115.
