‘ANGELS FOR AUTISM FUNDRAISER' HOSTED BY AHA OF BETHPAGE
TO BE HELD AT SAVANNAH'S LOUNGE IN EAST MEADOW - NOVEMBER 5
For children and adults with autism, there is "no one size fits all." No one is more aware of this than the dedicated group of individuals and parents who founded the Asperger Syndrome and High Functioning Autism Association (AHA) 20 years ago. This group of outstanding individuals is comprised of many volunteers-parents who continue to educate and raise awareness in the community of how to help children with high-functioning autism.
To aid them in their quest to generate awareness of autism through education and vital services, businesses in the community are coming together for a fundraiser to benefit AHA. Sponsored by Long Island Way members, David Gussin, publisher of 516.Ads.com and Lloyd Gutin of 1800GOTJUNK.com, the event will be held at Savannah's Lounge in East Meadow on November 5, 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. The venue, as well as the food, will be donated from Savannah's. As part of the festivities of the evening, guests will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets from a display of beautiful raffle items.
"People are working together and supporting AHA simply because they deserve it," said Mr. Gussin. "Not only do they give people quality resources to help them, they work hard to uphold their mission. This event is all about people working together for a great cause."
Founded 20 years ago, the Asperger Syndrome and High Functioning Autism Association (AHA) have made great strides in the last two decades to increase awareness and knowledge of high-functioning autism. Autism is a spectrum disorder that varies in degree from mild to severe with a wide range of needs. AHA helps provide appropriate educational programs, effective social skills training and social recreational opportunities, meaningful employment and satisfactory living accommodations for those with high functioning autism.
Pat Schissel, president of AHA for the last eight years, said that the members of the organization are passionate about their mission because it's all about their children, who range in ages from the very young to adults.
"We are so thrilled that these businesses are hearing and feeling our passion," said Ms. Schissel. "We are the fortunate beneficiaries of the work of the Long Island Way's businesses, and are grateful to their members, David Gussin and Lloyd Gutin, who have been wonderful supporters of our organization."
For additional information or to register for the event, you may call Pat Schissel at 516-470-0370, or visit AHA.ny.org. The cost to attend is $50 per person; all proceeds will be donated to AHA.
